San Jose Makes Progress on Ten Year Green Vision
In October 2007, Mayor Chuck Reed introduced the city’s Green Vision, with a list of ten goals that would transform the city into a model of eco-friendliness by 2022. Overall, there are three areas in which San Jose is advancing most rapidly toward its Green Vision: In 2011, the city diverted 71 percent of its targeted amount of trash from landfills, built 53.7 percent of its desired new trail miles and added 40 percent of the number of alternative fuel vehicles it wants in the city fleet.
