Committee Approves CCA CleanPowerSF over Downtown Opposition
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Budget & Finance Committee voted 2-1 in favor of creating CleanPowerSF, a "community choice aggregation" (CCA) renewable energy program that would be offered as an alternative to Pacific Gas & Electric, devoting 19.5 million dollars from the San Francisco Public Utility Commission’s water fund. Supporters argued that the time has come for the city to address climate change and the long-term energy needs of city residents and businesses, while some from the business community said it’s too expensive.
